Christmas Eve Surprise!!

Oh the weather outside is frightful

But the fire is so delightful

And since we've no place to go,

Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

When I went to bed last night, I had NO idea we were expecting snow today!! Yesterday we were at 72 degrees!!!!  Today?? 2" of snow!  Only in Texas?.. The kids were so thrilled today.. It started snowing around 11, and just quit a few hours ago.  Sadly it took hours for it to start sticking to the ground though.  First thing this AM we got a lot of rain, so the ground was too wet and just soaking up the snow.
What a great Christmas Present.  I moved to TX from MI nearly 14 yrs ago, and this is my first white Xmas since I've been here.  I don't miss the 3 months of winter, but I do miss it around the holidays. However, I really wish I would have done all of my Christmas shopping yesterday, when it was warmer!

We wrapped all of our gifts, made some cookies, played in the snow, had hot cocoa, had chicken noodle soup for dinner.. kids are tucked into bed.. and mom and dad are heading there soon..

In 2005 I started the tradition of Jeff reading "Twas the night before Christmas" to the kids.  Each year I trace the kids handprints in the book to keep track of there growth.  They enjoy looking back at it. Especially this year, unfortunately I forgot to trace last year, so 2 yrs had past since last did it.  I'll share pictures of those later.

I hope you guys have a Blessed Christmas.  Remember, it's not about the gifts. It's about spending time with those you love, and creating happy memories to last a life time.  And Celebrating the birth of Jesus.
Thanks for visiting.

Phew... getting a chance to breathe!!

Hopefully this will be the 1st of several posts over this weekend.. I have a lot to talk about, and a lot of pictures to share. Life has just been crazy around here and I'm not having much time to sit at the PC here lately.
Jeffs dad went back to the hospital last week. His therapist came to visit him and his BP was really low, something like 91/63 or something?? Considering his pressure is usually really high it was quite scary to hear such low numbers. We called 911 for him, and shortly after getting there it came back in normal range. He has been diagnosed with pneumonia again, were assuming from aspirating his liquids again. he was up for 3 days straight this time and talking nonsense again. We had a neurologist come in since this happened the last time he was there as well, he said its really common with people his age (he's 80) to become sleep deprived in the hospital and start hallucinating. so after 3 sleeping pills in one night he finally fell asleep for about 24 hrs and has been fine since. :-) They transferred him to Rehab again the other day, so hopefully he'll be home and doing well again soon.
Tomorrow Aleena and Peyton are playing in a soccer tournament, so I have 6 soccer games to watch! :-) And if they win there division I'll have games on Sunday for them, and Jeff has one Sunday as well. I have a lot to update on all of us, so hopefully I'll be able to dedicate a blog post to each of us and get you up to speed soon. :-)
Until then, here are a few pictures that were taken on Mothers Day.

Christmas Post.. Better late then never??

We had a busy, but VERY fun and relaxing Xmas weekend! I had to work Xmas eve and as soon as I got off we went over to Jeff's Brother Marks house. Mark had to work Xmas day so it worked out great for us to all get together on Xmas Eve. The weather was great and the boys tossed the football around outside for awhile. We then enjoyed a nice ham dinner, exchanged gifts, had some fun and laughs and came home to get ready for Santa. This post will include lots of pictures over that weekend!

Then we came home to get ready for Santa. The kids made up some cookies, we tracked Santa on NORAD, and I got busy wrapping gifts. One thing we forgot to do this year was read "Twas the Night before Christmas". It's something we started doing about 3-4 yrs ago; and we were so rushed when we got home I forgot. :-( I put trace the kids handprints each year so we can see how they grow as well (Thanks Donna for that idea)...

Here are the kids tracking Santa

Then we woke up Xmas Morning and opened our gifts..

Santa's cookies, milk and letter left behind.

After opening our gifts we went to my Sister Melanies house for Breakfast and a gift exchange between my family. I forgot to bring my camera so I'm bumming some pictures from Melanie

After having breakfast at Melanie's we exchanged gifts and hung out for a bit.. She was trying to get lunch ready for Michaels family, my mom, sister and cousin and her family. So we left and came home. We lounged around for hours playing games with the kids, waiting for my mom and sister to come here for dinner. It wasn't quite the same, but it is what it is! I am used to having a big meal on Xmas with lots of family... Anyways.. then we spent the weekend playing games, ALL weekend.. Battleship, Bingo, Xbox, Chinese Checkers etc. I think on Friday I stayed in my PJ's ALL day! That felt great....
More posts to come soon...
