Some of you may remember that a few years ago Peyton had a reaction to one of his immunizations, his DTaP. His leg swelled up really bad, hot to the touch, streaks, fever, lethargic etc. That was only his 4th dose and he still needed to have his 5th. Our DR ran all sorts of tests, researched it etc and decided she didn't feel comfortable giving it to him, so referred us out to an allergist. After he looked over everything he decided to go ahead and give it to him. It was all just a local allergic reaction, he wasn't having difficulty breathing etc, so he felt it was OK to give it to him. Well he went ahead and got the immunization yesterday and had to remain at the office for a bit to be certain he wasn't going to have any sort of reaction right away. Today I picked him up from school and he's limping really bad, fever, it's swelling, hot to the touch, and got red spotches on it. So I called the DR right away and he told me to bring him right in. So after an observation he has placed him on steroids and said to do cool compress on it and motrin. To expect it to swell more, but if it starts to get streaks, or just really painful to bring him back in. *sigh* My poor guy. Attached are a few pictures from his shot a few years ago that I took. And this wasn't even at it's worst!! So lets hope it doesn't get this bad this go around.
